I LOVE the description of Billy, he sounds just my kind of pony.

Lia, if he has not already been snapped up, he is welcome to come and have a little holiday with me, I am sure he would love some hacking on the Forest. :D

Sarah,

I originally went down to Gatwick to try Billy based on Lia's description. I ended up trying Rosie and Masie instead........

The rest, as they say, is history. I did consider buying them both, but my long suffering husband was forced to point out that I only have one bottom and reminded me that I already have a naughty (but very cute) cob at home in the first place.

Hope to collect Rosie next week so that she can join the family. :D

Hi Bev, CONGRATULATIONS on nearly being the owner of Rosie - I bet you cant wait for her to arrive. :)

What made you try her instead of Billy?

I would love to know more about Billy, he sounds just my kind of chap.

I REALLY hope you will find time to send in some pics of Rosie once she arrives. :D

Good Luck and Best wishes,
Sarah.

Congratulations Bev! How exciting. Now that there has been a thaw ("down south" anyway) are you going to be able to collect her soon? And then you will upload some photos? We do love them!

The trouble with Lia's cobs is that they all sound wonderful. I love the look of Beatrice and Wizard but I especially like the bit about Beatrice "planting" her feet: as the vet, who vetted my old girl, would say "Nothing wrong, it's just her character!".

Do so hope you have fun with Rosie :) .

Hello Sarah and Helen,

Thanks for the warm welcome - I look forward to supplying updates on Rosie when she gets delivered some time next week.

I went down to Safecobs at Gatwick because I liked the look of Ziggy and Billy on the website ( to be honest I really liked the look of Megan but she had already been sold). I am over 50 and have painful arthritis in my right leg, so I am not a confident or very balanced rider.

Lia, when I called her, said "don't just look at them come down and ride them." This was a bit of a challenge given I live on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border and Gatwick is 180 miles away. I took a friend who is a very good, confident rider with me (and my long suffering husband to do the driving)..........

After about an hours personal introduction to the four horses that Lia had brought in from the fields, she decided that four was not enough and we needed to look at a fith.........enter Rosie stage left!

We originally intended to try Ziggy, Masie and Rosie, however my friend Frances and I set off on Masie and Rosie and somehow Ziggy never even got a look in!!
We both rode both of these delightful mares, including a changeover at halftime and that was that........
Three canters, a mile or two and about an hour later, we both came back with huge grins on our faces and we were hooked. Sorry Lia, we could not bring them back any sooner - they were enjoying it too!

There was much discussion on the four hour journey home, but eventually Rosie got our vote and all we have to do now is collect her. At this point the ice and snow returned and everything was put on hold for three weeks.

Hopefully, she will be collected by a transporter lorry next week and will join the family on the farm where I currently keep Merlin (my unsafe cob!).

Her arrival is being eagerly awaited by other riders and horses at the farm, as I have praised her behaviour to anyone who will listen and I look forward to her having many happy years there.

Up dates to follow................hopefully next week. :D

I cant believe poor Billy has not found himself a lovely new home yet - surely the right person must be out there somewhere! :(
